Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers about listings, enquiries, reviews, checks and joining the directory.

These answers explain the directory’s role, how enquiries and reviews work, and what customers and businesses should check.

Does Nottingham Plumbers carry out plumbing work?

No. Nottingham Plumbers operates a directory and enquiry service. Listed plumbers are independent businesses, and any quotation or work contract is directly between the customer and the chosen business.

How do I find a plumber?

Search the Find a Plumber page by service, area or postcode, review the available profile information, then contact a business or submit an enquiry under the sharing notice shown on the form.

Does a listing mean the plumber is guaranteed or approved?

No. A listing is not a guarantee of availability, workmanship, price, safety or outcome. Where a particular check has been completed, its meaning and limitations should be stated. Customers should still make their own checks.

What should I check before hiring a plumber?

Confirm identity, written scope and price, payment terms, relevant experience and current insurance. For gas work, independently check that the engineer and the required work category are covered by current Gas Safe registration.

Who receives the details in my enquiry?

The form notice explains whether the enquiry is sent to a selected business, reviewed by Nottingham Plumbers or assigned to one or more suitable businesses. Only submit information needed for the plumbing enquiry.

Are customer enquiries free?

The current customer enquiry form does not charge the customer. A plumber may charge for callouts, diagnosis, labour or materials; agree those costs directly before work starts.

How are reviews published?

Reviews submitted through the website require a valid email-verification step and administrator moderation. Reviews must describe a genuine first-hand experience and comply with the Reviews Policy.

Can a business challenge a review?

Yes. A business can report a review and provide relevant information. Genuine positive and negative reviews are assessed under the same policy; disagreement alone is not a reason for removal.

How can a plumbing business join?

Read the Business Terms and submit the online application. We may request evidence, ask for corrections, decline unsupported claims or refuse an application.

How can a business update its profile?

An approved business can use the Business Portal to propose changes. Material updates may remain pending until an administrator reviews them.

What should I do during a plumbing emergency?

Protect people first. If safe, isolate the water and keep away from water near electrical equipment. Call emergency services or the relevant utility emergency line where there is immediate danger, then contact an appropriate plumber.

How do I report inaccurate or private information?

Use the Contact page or Complaints and Notice-and-Action Policy. Identify the page, explain the concern and provide supporting information where appropriate.
